The first baby born in 2009 at Resurrection Medical Center, 7435 W. Talcott Ave., Chicago, is a girl -- 7-pound 13-ounce Julia Oleksy. She was delivered by Dr. Steven Bujewski, an obstetrician/gynecologist.
Julia's official arrival time was shortly after midnight -- at 12:39 a.m. Jan. 1. She is the first child of Joanna Kosmowska and Krzysztof Oleksy, of Des Plaines. The couple's extended family members live in Poland.

AUGUSTA, Maine -- The head of the Department of Veterans Affairs says he wants to make it easier for veterans in rural states such as Maine to access health care, counseling and other services offered by his department.
